This is one of those posts that will settle in deep…Just listening/viewing the media upon which this post is based will take about 18 minutes…and the topic will likely cause one of those long deep thoughts I sometimes talk about here….Meet Jill Taylor.
I have never been able to describe even remotely adequately what I get out of Tantra or BDSM…
I think she did a nice job…don’t you?
What she is describing is a state of mind which may be sought by choice…and that state of mind is called many things…nirvana, no mind, trance, out of body experience, flying….
I have a deep belief in the same message Jill speaks of at the end of this video…It is why I began to speak about Tantra and BDSM…even though many in my life would disprove of my topics of conversation here.
I am one of those people who thinks that there are doors through which to approach bliss and deeper consciousness. Sensuality and erotisism is a lovely door to walk through to get to this joy that Jill speaks of.
I believe in meeting people where they are. Many people today are uncomfortable in oh so many ways. We are uncomfortable and scared about war, politics, ecology and the threats of global warming and loss of beautiful wild places, about our neighbors behavior, about not being wonderful, beautiful and well endowed enough….all sorts of things inside and outside..For many, the question of attaining bliss full states seems unreachable and something that monks do, not I….but some sorts of physical experiences, like tantra aren’t that hard to do. And they do cause these euphoric, happy making states of consciousness which extend so wonderfully into the left brain experience of life….and because the bliss extends like this, life holds more beauty and more fun no matter which side of your brain you live from in each moment.
So. I think it a worthy reason to write, even if I risk disapproval, because if this door way feels accessible, then perhaps just one person will reach for a little of that bliss Jill speaks of.
I agree with Jill. If we all reach for the beauty and joy of our right brains, humanity will transform and transcend so many of its current troubles…and gee…to think all it takes is just a little bit of nooky…*winks* Well I rather get a real zing out of that. *happy smiles* Imagine the world fucking its way into a social revolution…? LOL!
I am being silly, but I do think about this sometimes and I thought that this video enhances what I’ve shared here of my thoughts about sexuality, life, Tantra, Kink and relationships….and I hope that you are as touched by Jill’s story as I am.

*sighs* The clouds saw fit to drop snow today. I could care less what the weather is when I want to do something outside. Could be any sort of weather. I’d go to sea in a thunderstorm and camp in a hurricane….and I’ve done the latter before I might add. Its a matter of right clothes and gear. But. My car is not a good snow car….so here I sit.
I’ll just take my pipe outside and talk to the cloud people about how enough is enough on this snow thing this season….
Perhaps tomorrow is a good day for the beach…? We shall see…or should I say sea?

Yes, I think she did a very good job. She is a very good speaker. I wish I could speak in public that well and with such a high command of my topic. I also agree that what she has to share is both beautiful and of great value.

Thanks for posing that link, I really enjoyed Jill Taylor’s talk. I am studying neuroscience myself so I was quite tickled to find this connection here.
I agree with you that what she describes is so similar to what I get out of my sexuality, I think of it as an altered state or a super power :) and it does feel powerful to be able to access that space nearly at will. It is too bad that people may disapprove of the methods we use to get there, there are probably other times and places in history when the ability to use pain to access this other space would have been seen as exaulted, or holy.
For now I suppose it will have to be enough that there are like minded bloggers out there. Thanks for a very thoughtful post.

Shannee, I’ve been offline for 36 hours fighting a really nasty self replicating Trojan, but with the help of my I T back up we succeeded.
Jill Taylor is amazing, so good to hear a scientist talk like that.
What a marvellous picture she painted, Nirvana just a tiny step away.
Having Tantric sex left Mel and I in a similar state quite often.
What do you think, only electing good couples to Congress or Parliament and ensuring that they have Tantric sex before any important decision, that would certainly make viewing the law makers much more interesting.

Together with a Mozilla Firefox browser, you don’t need much more protection on your pc. Anyway, I’m glad you liked Jill. It is indeed great to hear a scientist talking like that and too think it would be just marvelous to have a government that’s doing something spiritual….no matter what it was to center themselves before decisions are made. I don’t ascribe to people making decisions for me based on their religion, but I do like the idea of a person I elect using their faith to make a significant improvement on thier well being. A happy healthy person is a good decision maker in my opinion…and damn it would be good if sex weren’t so upsetting to the world. Who cares who’s having sex with whom? Let people do what they want with their private parts, stop talking about it instead of the issues at hand and lets move on already!! Grr…getting tired of this stupid sex scandal stuff. ARen’t you?
I have not achieved the state during sex that I can achieve while doing some of my ritual experiences. That is possible to do, but I think that I am distracted by the fact that my partner isn’t getting there or isn’t capable of getting that far into the practice. Ah well…no one to practice with right now anyway, so on to other topics. *smiles* Such as why did this damned thing not approve this comment?! I still have it set to approve any commenter who’s got a previously approved comment and it did approve another one just a moment ago. WTF?! LOL!
