A Musically Fun Time

A year ago last June, I got a concert for my birthday. We drove to Tupelo Music Hall to see Edy Carey, Julie Lloyd and Anne Heaton who you can see singing below….

Just thought you’d enjoy something to listen to while reading the funnies….*smiles*

A Sunday School helper was delivering a station wagon full of kids home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children began discussing the dog’s duties.

“They use him to keep crowds back,” said one youngster.

“No,” said another, “he’s just for good luck.”

A third child brought the argument to a close. “They use the dogs,” she said firmly, “to find the fire hydrant.”

CATHOLIC HEART ATTACK

A man suffered a serious heart attack and had open heart bypass Surgery. He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of Nuns at a Catholic Hospital. As he was recovering, a nun asked him questions regarding how He was going to pay for his treatment. She asked if he had health insurance. He replied, in a raspy voice, “No health insurance.” The nun asked if he had money in the bank. He replied. “No money in the bank.” The nun asked, “Do you have a relative who could help you?” He said, “I only have a spinster sister, who is a nun.” The nun became agitated and announced loudly, Nuns are not spinsters! Nuns are married to God.” The patient replied, “Send the bill to my brother-in-law.

A grade school teacher in Kentucky asked her students to use the word “fascinate” in a sentence. Molly put up her hand and said, “My family went to my granddad’s farm ; and we all saw his pet sheep. It was fascinating.” The teacher said, “That was good , but I wanted you to use the word “fascinate ; not fascinating”. Sally raised her hand. She said, “My family went to see Rock City And I was fascinated.” The teacher said, “Well, that was good Sally, but I wanted you to use the word, “fascinate.” Little Johnny raised his hand. The teacher hesitated because she had been burned by Little Johnny before. She finally decided there was no way he could damage the word “fascinate”, so she called on him. Johnny said, “My Aunt Gina has a sweater with ten buttons … But , her tits are so big … she can only fasten eight.” The teacher sat down and cried.

This week past was filled with lots of good stuff and I really enjoyed my holiday on a variety of levels….but to be specific about my gratitude…? Well I am grateful for hope….cause it always floats to the surface, even when I think there’s no more at all.

When I started writing on blogs a bit shy of two years ago, I could only rarely get anyone to comment on my blog….It felt like a huge part of the fun of it was missing from the experience. I wrote anyway because I love writing so…but it really pleased me when someone would comment. I still really enjoy others remarks a great deal. It makes me smile to log in here and find comments waiting to be moderated. I can’t wait to see what someone has said. Sometimes people say the funniest, wisest, or most outrageous things. Sometimes people say a kind word or give me a pat on the back. Sometimes people arouse me with their remarks….I get it all and for that I’m deeply grateful. Just so you know…when I first started, I’d be lucky to get two comments out of six posts. Now, though I have only 93 posts on this blog, I have 282 comments and counting…and I find that it is now rare that someone doesn’t respond to a post that I publish. That makes writing all the more fun for me…and its teaching me something of what people respond to in my writing…and as a result my writing is improving.

I am enjoying the quiet pleasure of seeing my writing read by others…and the number of visitors this blog is getting each day has doubled in the past month…I am really happy to have visitors here each day to share my thoughts, my gratitude and my love of writing with. Thank you for your time and your engagement with me. You are truly fun, each and every one of you.

Didja notice? *smiles and winks* This blog will likely exceed 10,000 hits very soon, perhaps before another week is out. That’s not bad considering I only started the blog four months ago here.

I am grateful for Uniquely Twisted, who shared most of the funny things I published here today. You should see all the cool stuff she’s sent me. She sends me something hysterical nearly every day and sometimes ten things. I’ve got enough to keep this blog happy for a year…and the abundance in laughter is still growing. It is good to share joy, laughter and music with others. These are the sources of my hope…and I sincerely hope that you’ll share your gratitude list with me here. Blessings!

I know that if I could keep up on a blog (I have never been good at keeping any kind of journal), I might someday have the kind of views and comments that you get. I enjoy reading what you write, even when I can’t think of a comment.

BTW. I love the jokes this week. I don’t think I heard that first one before

    Warm hugs,

    HI Chuck!!

I have the feeling that you are a joke collector and I’ll bet that’s a compliment that Uniquely Twisted would likely enjoy. She’s the one who’s collected all these wonderful jokes….I’m just glad she’s sharing them with me because I get to laugh at them several times….when she sends them and then when I paste them in the post box and then again when I come here to read comments….Its just so fun and its good for my soul.

I am sure that you are right about getting lots of interaction for your blogging should you ever do it. Your writing is enjoyable to read. *smiles*

HI Paul!! I especially loved the Snoopy this time too. I love your visits. *smiles*

Good Tuesday evening to you, Greenwoman !

Totally understand – I love getting comments on all of my posts, and try very hard to comment on each of my links when they update, in that same spirit.
Fair is fair, and if we have time to post, we have time to comment on each-other’s blogs, so it isn’t a one-sided thing.

    Loivng Annie

Congrats on the growing audience! Loved the humor, as well!

Hello Annie! always nice when you say hello. I don’t quite agree with you about having time to comment on other blogs just because I have found time to write on my own blog. Often times I only just have time to write posts for my blogs. I have three blogs that I publish on publically and some of those posts take a great deal of time and meditation to compose.

And that’s not to mention that I have over two hundred blogs on my Reader. I can’t possibly comment on all of them routinely. I try to get round once or twice a month to all of them and more often to those blogs that inspire me in some way…IF I have time.

That is why I so appreciate commentors, such as yourself. I know that they have just as little time as I do. I know that they are sharing that little bit of precious time making a connection with me. And you do go out of your way to be a blessing at every blog you visit and I truly appreciate that. Blessings to you Annie.

I am a regular visitor to your excellent blog. I only comment if I have something to add to the conversation (which is rare).
